Super Bowl: Manning Says Its Over

That’s all she wrote. The Indianopolis Colts get their first Super Bowl trophy in over 25 years and Quarterback Peyton Manning gets his vindication as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the game. Manning, who was named Super Bowl MVP, spent nearly a half-hour answering reporter’s questions following his team’s win.

Getting to see Peyton Manning just a few feet from me was a real treat, as was standing near some of the other great players on both teams

Super Bowl: Wet and Wild

February 4th, 2007, 4:43 pm by Iris

I just saw Alec Baldwin walk onto the concourse. Paris Hilton and her sister Nikki were just spotted leaving the cocktail area — probably looking for me to apologize about last night’s shoving incident. Everyone is soaking wet right now…it is pouring rain.

My credential ranking for this game is 5 (4 6) — which means I don’t have a seat, although I’m allowed access to anywhere in the stadium including the field. I’ve camped out on the lower level of the stadium, on the Colt’s 30-yard line, Bear’s side. It’s great seats at what has been a pretty exciting game so far. I am wearing a plastic pouncho I bought for five bucks and I am so cold, it’s hard for me to type right now because my arms and fingers are so sore, but I’m set on my mission.

Super Bowl: I have arrived

That’s right, I am at the Super Bowl. The bus ride took an hour-and-a-half because of traffic, but I sat near Andy Rooney from 60 Minutes fame. Once I got here, I was patted down, searched, slightly groped and led into the biggest sporting event in the United States.

Super Bowl: Penthouse Party pics

It’s taking every bit of strength I have to upload these photos right now…let alone even sit up straight. The Penthouse party was off the hizzle last night, rocking the Mansion club with South Beaches’ most beautiful people.

Paris Hilton actually pushed me out of the way so she and her sister could get up close to the stage. The party was crawling with Penthouse Pets and top shelf booze. I was probably the poorest person there (tickets were $1,000 a piece) but I was rich in friends, as you can see from the photos below.

And in Miami, there’s only one 2 a.m. law — and that law says that at 2 a.m., Snoop will come out and rock the house with an hour-long set.

Super Bowl: Michael Irvin inducted into Hall of Fame

February 3rd, 2007, 6:22 pm by Iris

The Media Center was buzzing with some excitement today after former Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Michael Irvin was inducted into the NFL’s Hall of Fame.

This is pretty big sports news for you non-fans out there. Irvin has been snubbed by the Hall of Fame committee for the past two years, probably because of some bad decision-making during his careeer. He’s been busted twice for possession of cocaine and said many crazy things, including a rumor that Dallas Cowboys QB Drew Brees might be part black because his ancestors owned slaves.

Super Bowl: Welcome to the Media Center

For reporters covering the Big Game, the Media Center is the lifeline between the players, the NFL and the media. All the media shuttles head toward this giant media complex, located on the edge of South Beach at the Miami Convention Center.

Just blocks away is Lincoln Street and Collins Avenue, the heart of South Beach filled with dozens of boutiques and the aroma of fried plantains coming from nearby sidewalk cafes. When reporters aren’t shopping and eating on the main road, they’re camping out at the media center — writing their articles, broadcasting their radio shows and taking a moment to kick back and relax.

Fit Challenge: Camp pain

February 3rd, 2007, 11:50 am by Iris

Laila and I had our first group exercise outing this morning. We met at 9 a.m. in a San Clemente park for boot camp. It was cold and muddy.

The group — ranging from late 20s to 60s — was energetic and willing to submit to an hour of sweat and pain. Not all the exercises were grueling, but most of them were aimed to keep the heart rate up.

Super Bowl: How it all works

A lot of people are asking me what it’s like being a reporter at the Super Bowl. Well, it’s kind of like working in a fish market — except you don’t have to clean and gut fish all day.

As a reporter, it’s one of those giant assignments with tons of other reporters from different media around the world. The biggest group I’ve counted are sports writers, followed by radio hosts and then television personalities. They all converge at the Media Center, which I’ll take you too later.

Unless you’re with a big news agency, you can start to feel like a small fry around the guys from ESPN and Sports Illustrated — if only Squeeze had a shoe phone to give away with subscriptions (but at least Squeeze is free)

Super Bowl: Red Carpet

South Beach was on fire last night with clubs and bars thumping until the early hours in the morning. The hottest parties were hosted by ESPN and Maxim, but you had to have an invitation to rock with those cats — instead most party animals found themselves shelling out mucho dinero for a chance to get jiggy on the dance floor.

The best chance the average Joe had to hang with the stars was the Leather and Laces party at club Charka in South Beach. For $275 a person for general admission, and $750 for VIP status — club goers could dance alongside B-list celebs and half-dressed hotties like Carmen Electra and Jenny McCarthy.

Super Bowl: More photos from the airport

February 2nd, 2007, 9:08 pm by Iris

(Posted by guest blogger Dave Brooks)

I had a delay getting my photos from the airport today…they were stuck on my phone and the email took hours to go through.

So here’ s the first shot…my friends the TMI boys. They seemed a little iritated that it took me so long to get my camera phone to work…but if they saw how much the light washed them out in this pic, they would be bustin caps.
