The Sounds come to Orange County

September 11th, 2007, 1:19 pm by KELLI SKYE FADROSKI, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

thesoundsblog.jpgSwedish pop-rock group, The Sounds is doing a mini-California tour and is confirmed to play the Galaxy Theatre (3503 S. Harbor Blvd., Santa Ana. 714-957-0600) at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

The bands’ breakthrough album was “Living in America” a snarky, anthemous record with a ton of energy. The band went out on the U.S. Vans Warped Tour in 2004 and gained a huge North American fan base. It took three years before another Sounds album was released. In 2006, the band put out “Dying to Say This to You,” which carried the same amount of bratty enthusiasm as the first record.

Under the Influence of Giants and Liam and Me will open the show. Tickets are $29 and available at the Galaxy Theatre box office and on the web at galaxytheatre.com.

“Donde esta mi pantalon?”

August 31st, 2007, 4:54 pm by Iris

With song lyrics like that, how can you not love Los Abandoned?!

This bilingual pop-punk band is a KICK to see live, a quintessential Southern California band with goofy-clever lyrics, and tunes that range from cheeky-sweet melodies (like “Pantalon” quoted above) to driving punk beats (”Stalk U,” “Van Nuys (es very nice)”).

We saw the energetic-yet-graceful Lady P and her hombres Thursday night at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, and it was probably the best live music deal in the O.C. that night: for $10 we got a great dose of infectious music, plus the always lively visual show… Pilar shakes it
